1000 kisses!

Yesterday, while doing my daily Pinterest routine, I accidentally saw how many followers there were on my boards. The number was exactly 1000. Yay, I've got 1000 followers on Pinterest - so I decided to have a little celebration. I've always chosen quality over quantity and I started pinning for myself and not for showing off. Still, let me send 1000 kisses to my dear followers, with whom I must be sharing great taste in design!

Pinterest is a great resource, so I'll use some of my pins as a teaser to what kind of Christmas decor I have in mind for next month! A grey blanket stands out with a little neon edge...

Goodbye, Halloween Gallery!

We are one week into December and my Halloween gallery is still up on the wall. I don't really mind, because it gives a good sexy vibe to the room. Besides, in my family nobody puts up the Christmas decorations until the 22nd of December (if you're diligent an you celebrate St. Steven) or until the 24th (because the tradition here is to put the tree up on Christmas Eve, not  a day earlier). I mean, my father would be utterly confused if he knew that I planned for everything to be ready this very weekend (Christmas tree included)...

On the coffee table, a white washed wooden bird house makes a first step towards a winter mood. It goes well with the neon pumpkin, as they are both snow white. All i need is more candles :) I am also happy to report that I ditched the black shag rug and put the ethnic beauty in its place. The black rug just isn't "me" anymore. Anyway, with the black and white art, the traditional rug and the light blue touches, everything is cheery again!

Christmas Gift Wrap: Snowflakes And Pompoms

Following my recent neon Christmas inspiration post, I took out an old neon wrapping paper and my snowflake paper punch and got to work. This is simple to do and beautiful to look at. As I was putting together the finishing touches on the first Christmas package, I felt like there was something missing. A third dimension. So I got to play with some white pompoms and the gifts were ready to present.

Neon Christmas Inspiration

First of all, I would like to thank all my friends for the wonderful support on my new Etsy adventure. You guys rock! And now back to the winter holidays: I am still getting the finishing touches on my plan for Christmas decorations. I find myself torn between the longing for a traditional red and white Christmas (which says that good old Christmas will be like a fairy tale, with singing carols and happy thinking from everyone in my big family) and the urge to do something else (just because I can imagine a different kind of Holiday). 

So after going along with the lucky red and white combo, I felt bound to try a new color palette. Neon! A worldwide contemporary obsession in design and a personal challenge for me. The process was quite similar to the first mood board: I just gathered stuff from the drawers in pink neon and white... and a little dusty pink, of course. I love what I see and I think I'll have a red and white Christmas in the living room and a neon one in the study ;)

Neon Pumpkin

I know, I know, it's a gourd! But I like this shape better :) Halloween is approaching fast and there was no pumpkin in the house. The perfect time to try out my first neon project. I keep pinning wonderful neon images, my friends gave me a set of neon watermark colors and my autumn decor was in need of a funky addition. Enter the neon pumpkin, the star of the home!

This is easy and quick to do. I've snapped some pics for a little tutorial. First, mark your separation line with duct tape and paint the whole thing white (I used acrylic paint). Second, use the duct tape to set a new line and paint the neon graphic line. Add some dots for a whimsical effect. Remove the tape and you're done! Actually, when I removed the tape over the white paint there was a little accident and some of the paint got stuck to the tape and went away. Oh well, I could have repaired that but I love the perfectly imperfect neon pumpkin :)
