Printable Bauble Gift Tags

Dear friends, here is a little gift for those of you in need of a breath of fresh air (and free gift tags). I'm sharing some care-free tags for some last minute casual gift wrapping. If you're overwhelmed by the invasion of free gift tags featuring cute Christmas trees, Santa, Rudolf and so on, or if you need a shift from tradition, you can use my alternative gift tags, based of my own photos from the blog. The tags are free to download here

My free gift tags are less conventional, but they still fit into the Christmas feel. I've made 10 different designs, each one shaped like a bauble ornament. So basically they can be printed and hung in the Christmas tree, why not?!  The tags come in different colors, so they can be assorted to many kids of wrapping paper.

For a neat look, wrap your gifts in solid color paper (or craft paper, I bet it would look terrific!) and hang the bauble gift tags by a piece of yarn in a matching color. I went the extra mile and wrapped my gifts in ombre shades of mint. The vivid colors of the gift tags will stand out from the crowd :)

Or you can go crazy and choose a busy patterned wrapping paper and some neon string. Hang a bunch of gift tags on the same present, instead of just one. It looks like fun!

If you're curious to discover from which of my blog posts I've taken the photos, take a peak here:
1. Orange and purple flowers from the Autumn Flower Ball tutorial
2. The inside of a crystal Chalk Paint Vase
3. The inside of a blue vase from my Sand, Sea and Sky shooting
4. Apple shaped gravel from What To Do?
5. Red peony petals from Don't Play With Your Food
6. A snowflake made of mini pegs in Winter Valentine
7. Hyacinth bulbs from How To Force Bulbs For Winter
8. Painted toothpics in the process of making Mad Hatter Cupcake Toppers
9. 3. The inside of a yellow vase, also from my Sand, Sea and Sky shooting
10. A snowflake of paper boats from my Origami Garland

If you have any questions, just let me know. This printable is provided for personal, non-commercial use only. Enjoy!

Gift wrapping 5: MAIA's box

Yesterday I went to Maia's birthday party. She turned 7. Maia is a genuine artist and she loves everything in a vivid color and an attractive shape. She always buys the crazy-looking buyme-screaming icecream, even if she likes plane old vanilla fudge. So I made for her this 12 pattern gift box.

Quick tutorial:
1. Cut your paper strips. Start from the edge, leaving a little bit of paper on the outside, in order to cover the corners nicely.
2. Glue the paper strip including the overlapping on the side of the box.
3. Repeat for each paper strip. Rinse, than repeat. (I'm kidding, this only goes for shampoo. But I like the way it sounds :-D)
4. Carefully glue the tips on the top inside of the box.

I've completed the gift box with a polka dot name tag, to which I added a cute little owl for extra whimsy.

Maia was very happy with the gift box, especially because every side had 3 different patterns that never repeated. My thanks to Studio 71 design who created the lovely paperback.

Gift wrapping 3

This is a gift for my best (and longest) male friend. He is passionate about planes, WW2 history and street art. We got him a vibrant album: "Graffiti in Argentina" and wrapped it in a world map.
Ever since my first brown paper gift, I've been constantly obsessed with simple Kraft paper name-tags. This is one of them, hand-written by my friend Ana. She is an architect and a specialist in hand written fonts and I will soon introduce her Etsy shop to you. Thank you, Ana!

Gift wrapping 2

Well, if you're on the rush and need a stunning package, choose a catchy wrapping paper. Special friend? Start thinking of ways to enhance the paper's natural beauty. Perhaps a little texture? Take a trip to your textile scraps drawer and choose some (not so) coordinated fabric. Like this.

It's getting late. Take an old shoe box, the ruler, the scissors, the glue and the double-sided tape.

Wrap-up in paper, add the extra fabric, add some coordinated string and don't forget the name tag! Go to your friend's party and confidently present this awesome gift:)

PS: If anybody asks, you payed a small fortune at the mall to have it wrapped like this. Click here to see my other gift wrapping posts :)

Name tags encore

Guess what, my green name tags were a big hit. My boss asked me if I could make some for his family, too. Sure, but I wasn't going to repeat the exact same pattern. Enter the red name tags, hand drawn on red textured cardboard by yours truly.

Name tags

Speaking of gift wrapping, let me show you the name tags I had prepared for the Christmas gifts. Actually I hated the wrapping paper, so I had to come up with a tag that would make the presents less hideous. My salvation came through hardship an d suffering, because I am not a skilled painter. Each name tag was unique and featured winter icons, from the snowman to the ice skates, from the hot tea cup to the heart shaped ginger bread. Oh, and some ice cream, too.

Gift wrapping

A 5 year old pencil box gets a re-purposed life.... Oh, the pleasure of gift wrapping! The joy of designing the right package for the birthday person! In this case, the birthday girl is a talented copy-writer, hence the tag "The rain in Spain... is good for the brain".

I took a used pen box and wrapped it in simple kraft paper. I was dying to use this adorable umbrella shaped that I received for Christmas - Thank you, ANA!! And for the final touch, I added some rain (I used a white gel pen) and some yarn to make the puffy clouds.
The key to success: less is more. Stay monochrome!
