Happy happy joy joy! A punch of sunny yellow tones for the darkest corner in the house. Plus, my Feng-Shui book says that a yellow / golden entryway is essential for the well-being of one's home.
I had the budget of a worker ant, but plenty of time and enthusiasm. I drew the retro pattern on the walls myself, mixed my colors by hand and spent three week-ends painting the faux wallpaper.
Good thing that the entryway is just a small nook, as you can see below:
What about the furniture? I reached deeply into my zero budget and came up with the lovely IKEA hat rack and hooks, that I already had. I painted them too, added the cheapest floor lamp I could find - about 9 euros (because the overhead light doesn't work) and called it a day.
After almost a year, I found in a warehouse the perfect stool. Retro organic shape in edible colors: my love for Kubrick's film sets has been satisfied!
And last but not least, the essentials: shoe cloths, shoe shine, dust brush.
Plus a little something for the pet friendly home: the pet hair roller & brush. Yay!
Update: I've been featured at Meg and Mum's and Christina's Adventures! Also at A simply klassic home, Bacon Time with the Hungry Hypo, My Simple Home Life, Destination Craft and Organize your stuff now, Addicted2decorating, Making the world cuter, Crayon freckles, Crafty, Scrappy, Happy, The 36th Avenue, Beyond the picket fence, Sugar Bee Crafts, One Artsy Mama, Tutus And Tea Parties, Between U and Me, DIY Home Sweet Home, My Repurposed Life and A Girl and a Glue Gun. Thank you so much for your support! For a newbie like myself, it's an unexpected honor.

Love the peppiness of the yellow color. It adds a fun element.

Deletethis is amazing!!!! i saw it at craptastic and i am off to check out more of your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Cassie :) I hope you found more stuff you like; you are welcome to stop by any time you want!
DeleteI’m sorry it took me so long to get to your « Impossibility Challenge » post – this thing called “work” got in the way! But I’m here now and it’s great to read about your EntryWay makeover. I think it's great - and did you really paint all that wall yourself?! Awesome! I think it looks briht, cheerful and welcoming.
DeleteCongratulations on making your impossibility possible!
Well, I am delighted that you really like it. Yes I did spend a lot of time painting the walls, but only because I can't really paint or draw - so I had to do it slowly...
DeleteYour crochet hat looks stunning on the camel and the sheepysheep. Perhaps you will make a collection out of it!
This entry is more than happy: it's wonderful. I rally like your home and I like Romania too, I stayed there 3 times!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the support! I hope you had a lovely time in Romania. If you want to visit again, my door is always open! And right besides the door you will find the happy entryway :))
Deletemultumesc!!! it was a great time there, with a lot of Italian and Rumanian friends. I also did my graduate thesis about your wonderful land and its terribel history. Then, I also speak a little Romanian... ;)
DeleteYour Romanian sounds just great!
Deletemmm, I think I forget all my Romanian, I speaked it, and don't speak unfortunately!
DeleteI pinned it http://pinterest.com/pin/230316968413340209/
ReplyDeleteMy,my! Thank you, I am overwhelmed! I really am and I hope I can return the favor. Unfortunately I don't have a Pinterest account. Do you happen to know how I could get invited to join?
DeleteI try and I did all myself, without any invite, I didn't know it was necessary...
DeleteWell it is necessary now. But it's OK, I will get there :) Thank you again for your support and kindness!
DeleteI can try to invite you, I think I need only the email address
DeleteIt's ok, I got an invite 2 days ago.
DeleteI will try to find you on Pinterest, I just don't understand exactly how it works. Yet!
Happy is right! What a fun and lively space - I don't think you could leave the house feeling grumpy with a room like that. :-). I love the stool - it's perfect in there, and the color is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking up to my first Room Evolution party - hope to see more!
Thank you, Jenny, for your support and your lovely comment! I love that your party focuses exactly on rooms :) I hope that in time I'll have new projects to add up to your Room Evolution Party!

DeleteLove the paint design and it's such a cheerful little entry. I've been trying to think of a great way to organize our coats and such, this is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Erin! I am happy if I can provide any inspiration. I had the same problem, with all those coats, hats, scarves, bags and pet hair rolls piling up in the entryway. In the future, I might add a very slim shoe cabinet.
DeletePS: Everything on your blog looks so yummy! You're doing a great job :)
wow i love it! It makes me happy just looking at it!
ReplyDeleteAnd your comment makes my day! Thank you!
DeleteWay cute! I'm not a bold color person, but I love that!

ReplyDeleteHi, Jennifer, thank you for the kind comment:)
DeleteIt's quite easy to create a small "landing strip" by the entry door, don't loose hope. I know you can do it! (After all, my entryway is just a tiny little nook)
I REALLY love this entry way SO much!! It's so cheery...and I love the budget too!! :)

Thank you, Jill, for hosting! I can't draw freehand, so I actually copied the outline with a pen and THEN I started to fill in each bubble with color. But I was very enthusiastic and I only felt exhausted during the 3rd weekend :)
DeleteYou painted the walls by hand... amazing!!! We have one of those stools, but in white; an original from the 80s. Love the IKEA hat stand and hooks.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pam:) That is the Tam Tam stool, but I can't buy it in my country, so I got a China knock-off.

ReplyDeleteWarmly, Michelle
Thank you, Michelle! If it's not 100% my style, I'd rather not do it, because it's pointless to follow someone else's taste rather than your own stories.
